The James Bond layout: chips of 14, 5 and 1

American roulette can hold three different chips on one spin. European roulette, in the classic story of this layout, hides the single zero with a separate bet. Here there are two zeros, and the layout below does not cover both of them.

The teaching stake is 20 units, in the proportion 14 : 5 : 1. Fourteen lie on 19–36. Five lie on Line 13–18, six numbers with one chip, paying 5 to 1. One lies straight on 0, paying 35 to 1. The famous 140, 50 and 10 are the same shares multiplied by 10. The account ceiling may not accept 140. It is checked separately. The numbers 20 and 200 below are not declared a RoulCoin limit.

Left open are 1–12 and 00. That is 13 pockets out of 38, and on them all 20 units disappear. 25 pockets are covered, but the plus on them is not the same.

Three chips on American roulette

The chips do not overlap: 19–36, 13–18 and 0 are different pockets. So the win of one is not doubled by a second.

13–186stake 5, payout 5 to 1+10
01stake 1, payout 35 to 1+16

A hit on 19–36 returns a profit of 14 and takes 5 and 1: +8 net. Line 13–18 gives a profit of 25 and takes 14 and 1: +10 net. Zero gives a profit of 35 and takes 14 and 5: +16 net. A check of a pass through all 38 pockets: 18×8 + 6×10 + 16 − 13×20 = 220 − 260 = −40. Per spin that is about −1.05 at a stake of 20, that is 5.26 per 100 staked.

Why a frequent plus does not cover 13 empty pockets

A plus lands on 25 pockets out of 38, which is 65.79% of spins. Minus 20 lands on 13. The large minus is rarer, but it is bigger than each separate plus. Two hits on 19–36 give +16 and do not cover one miss of −20. Three misses take 60. Eight hits on 19–36 give 64 and only then cover those three misses.

Zero in this layout is not insurance for the whole table. It insures one pocket and brings +16, while 00 lies among the thirteen full losses. They must not be mixed: the chip stands on 0, not on Five number.

Five number instead of the chip on zero

Sometimes the unit is moved from zero onto the Five number field: 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3, paying 6 to 1. Then 00 stops being a bare loss, but this chip has a different share. Five number takes 7.89 per 100 staked, not 5.26. The other two chips of the layout, 14 and 5, do not change their share. The table above counts the unit on one zero. A substitution of Five number is no longer this layout.

Where the unit was placedPockets coveredPayoutPer 100 staked by this unit
Only 0135 to 15.26
0, 00, 1, 2, 356 to 17.89

For a player in England, 00 does not become the zero from a European story. It remains a separate pocket. A time zone does not move the chip from 0 to 00.

On 25 pockets the layout is ahead, and on 13 it is minus the whole stake of 20. A pass of 38 pockets gives −40, not zero.

How not to mix the three chips if you play online

Before the spin, the sum 14+5+1 is checked, not the largest chip on its own. The cashier can accept a coin so you can play with crypto, but the rate of the coin does not cover 1–12 and does not move 00 into a win for the Line. A virtual balance suits a check of the layout: guest chips do not turn into a withdrawal, and the three fields are visible on them at once.

  • 14, 5 and 1 are not replaced by 10, 10 and 0. The proportion holds the results +8, +10 and +16.
  • 00 is not counted as a win for the chip that stands on 0.
  • Line 13–18 is not mixed up with Dozen 13–24. A Dozen pays 2 to 1 and covers other numbers.
  • After a miss the layout is not doubled. The next spin, if it is still in the session, costs 20 again.

Why 140 and 50 are not more profitable than 14 and 5

Multiplying all the chips by 10 multiplies both the plus and the minus 20, which becomes minus 200. The share per 100 staked stays 5.26. A large layout hits the table ceiling and the bankroll sooner, not a milder wheel.

Does 00 give plus 16 in this layout?

No. Plus 16 comes only from 0, on which a separate unit stands. 00, together with 1–12, takes all 20.

Do two hits on 19–36 cover one miss?

No. Two times +8 give +16. One miss gives −20. Together, −4.

Does Line 13–18 pay like a Dozen?

No. Six numbers pay 5 to 1. In this layout five units on the Line bring a profit of 25, and after the loss of 14 and 1 the net is +10.

Does Five number instead of zero improve the share?

No. A chip on 0 takes 5.26 per 100 of its own units. Five number takes 7.89. It covers 00, 1, 2 and 3, but it pays 6 to 1, not 35 to 1.

Three chips on one spin look like coverage of the table until the 13 empty pockets are written out. Neighboring playing strategies either cover two Dozens more evenly, or do not gather three payouts into one spin. The layout is worth adding up on paper: 18×8 and 13×20 diverge by 40 units over a full pass of the pockets.
