Oscar’s system in roulette: plus one unit per cycle

American roulette keeps 38 pockets on the wheel, and European roulette keeps 37. Oscar’s system does not double the bet and does not keep a row of numbers. A cycle has one aim: to close it at plus 1 unit. A loss leaves the bet as it was. A win raises it by one unit, but not above what is still missing to this aim.

The bet goes on an even chance. On the RoulCoin wheel there are 18 winning pockets out of 38, and 20 losing ones: the other color, 0 and 00. The payout equals the bet. French roulette with half returned on zero is not counted here. Both zeros take the chip in full, and after them the bet does not fall: for this rule, zero is an ordinary loss.

While the cycle has had no win, the bet equals 1. Eight losses in a row then cost 8, not a doubling ladder. Plus 1 appears only if the cycle is played out. The table’s share meanwhile stays on every unit staked.

A cycle up to plus one unit

Below are six spins. After the fifth, the level of the bet would have become 3, but two units are missing from −1 to the aim, so the sixth bet is 2, not 3. The “profit” column is the result of the cycle, not of one spin.

SpinBetOutcomeProfit of the cycleNext

21loss−2bet 1
31win−1bet 2
42loss−3bet 2
52win−12 short of the aim

The sum comes out: −1−1+1−2+2+2 = +1. 9 units were staked in order to take one. The cycle ends there. The next one starts from one unit again, even if it is tempting to continue from a bet of 2.

Eight losses against doubling

The cost of a long run of losses depends on whether the bet grows. At the start of an Oscar cycle it does not grow. The comparison below is about eight losses in a row and about sums already taken apart under neighboring rules. The table ceiling does not yet step into these eight chips.

RuleWhat is staked eight timesOn the table
Oscar, with no win in the cycle yet1, and so eight times8
D’Alembert from a start of 55, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 1268
Martingale from a start of 11, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128255

An eight against 255 is the cost of one and the same losing streak, not a difference of wheels. As soon as there has already been a win inside the cycle and the bet has risen, the next streak costs more than eight. A loss does not double it, but it also does not return it to one unit: the bet waits at the level the last win left it on.

How often the first win is delayed on American roulette

While the bet equals 1, each extra loss adds exactly one unit to the minus. On 38 pockets a loss of an even chance has probability 20/38. On 37 pockets it is 19/37. The cost in the last column is true only until the first win of the cycle.

Losses before the first win38 pockets37 pocketsCost at a bet of 1
47.67%, about 1 out of 136.95%, about 1 out of 144
80.59%, about 1 out of 1700.48%, about 1 out of 2078
120.045%, about 1 out of 2 2000.034%, about 1 out of 3 00012

Twelve units are still not a doubling ladder. The minus is already twelve, and the aim of the cycle is still plus one. Per 100 staked an American wheel takes 5.26 on average, and a European wheel takes 2.70. A slow step does not reduce this share: it only lays out the same minus across the spins differently.

Plus 1 is the aim of a cycle played out. Eight losses at its start cost 8 and do not become a plus because of that.

Where to keep the cycle if you play online

In England, 0 and 00 do not become a win of an even chance. After them the bet stays as it was, as after the other color. The city and the time zone do not change the number of pockets: there are still 18 winning ones out of 38.

Playing online for free is possible on a virtual balance, without an account and without a deposit. Guest chips do not turn into a withdrawal. On them the limit of the bet is exactly what shows: after the fifth spin of the table one wants to stake 3, but 2 is what is missing to the aim. The cashier can accept a coin so you can play with crypto, but the rate of the coin does not enter the 18 and 20 pockets.

  • The aim of the cycle is written down as plus 1 before the first spin.
  • A loss, including 0 and 00, does not change the bet.
  • A win adds one unit, until the aim is reached.
  • The bet is no larger than what is missing to plus 1. An extra chip beyond the aim is not staked.

Why plus 1 per cycle is not the plus of the evening

One closed cycle gives +1. The next one starts from zero and can again go into the minus on a long streak of units. Ten closed cycles give about +10 only if none has been broken by a shortage of bankroll. One unfinished cycle with twelve losses at the start already costs −12 and eats those ten successful units.

After a loss, is the bet doubled?

No. It stays the same. Eight losses at the start of a cycle cost 8. Doubling over the same eight spins from a start of 1 takes 255.

Why does the sixth bet in the example equal 2, although the level is already 3?

From −1 to plus 1, two units are missing. The system does not stake more than is needed to close the cycle. A third chip does not enter this rule.

Does zero reduce the bet by one unit?

No. 0 and 00 are the same loss of an even chance as the other color. The bet neither grows nor falls.

Does a cycle necessarily end at plus 1?

Only if it is played out. While losses continue, the minus piles up. Per 100 staked the table still takes 5.26 on average, and the aim “plus one” does not cancel that.

After a win, can two units be added at once?

Then it is already a different rule. Here, after a win, one is added, and only while the cycle is not closed. Nothing is staked beyond what is missing to plus 1.

A slow step is easy to underrate: eight losses cost 8, and because of that the cycle seems safe. Neighboring playing strategies take 68 or 255 on the same streak. Before raising the level, it is worth playing at least one cycle out to plus 1 on virtual chips, and one out to a long streak of units.
